too nice?

is it possible that people could be too nice?

i had an irrigation guy come to the house on Friday to look at my possessed sprinkler system. he looked the whole thing over, re-programmed it, showed me things that i never knew it could do, found a hidden (yes, hidden) controller for part of the system, found a hole in one of the pipes and for all of this, he didn't charge me a dime. and then proceeded to call me after he left because he thought of something else!

once i have the lawn re-established and have figured out what i want to do with the yard, he said to call him back. he'll charge me, but will also do some of the work for barter -- he wants the hidden controller that he found.

i'd like to think that in new york there are people like that (actually, i KNOW there are -- my uncle does the same thing!), but it's just amazing how nice people really are. this is the second time i've encountered someone that has gone above and beyond here in texas.

oh and to top it off, he had a really good idea about how to get all the thistles out of my backyard -- i can trade for them -- get a landscaping company who says they'll do it for something in my yard i want to get rid of! 'course i had never thought of that, and my music man's response to me saying that was, "because you've never had anything to barter with before." duh.
