prologue
so you saw the invitations and everywhere on the web that i read, it said that if you bring them to the post office, and ask to have them hand-cancelled they will do it for you because they know that they are wedding invites.

present day
the invitations are done and i brought them to the post office today. i had a couple of international invites so i got those stamped properly and then said, "can i ask that these be hand-cancelled?" and she said, "you can ask." i paid for the international stamps and then she looked at me and said, "if you want, you can go right over there (pointing to a table) and use this stamp, like so, and cancel them yourself" (imagine me shaking my head yes vigorously) "but when you're done, this stamp has to come back to ME."

so i stood in the post office for 5 minutes and hand-cancelled all of my own invitations. now that is called making your own invitations!!!
